I saw an interesting article in the morning call the other day. The article talked about how police are now turning to social network sites to solve crimes. I thought it was interesting and went along nicely with the class. One key stat I found amazing is that facebook has over 400 million users who churn out 70 pieces of information monthly. That is alot of content. Take a look at the article.
I think the article brings up some key information that alot of people may not know.

Wow, very interesting article. It's obvious that companies would utilize facebook and other forms of social media as a method of advertising, but this article proves that the possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think back to our discussions about using facebook during the interview process. Even though you probably shouldnt, I think it would be very tempting to find out as much information as you could about a future employee. Even a simple google search can bring about a great deal of information about someone.
It is very interesting article. The article says that people post things because they think that only their friends can see them. There are also people who do things and post them so that others know that they did it. It's not enough that they do something they shouldn't, but they want others to see it and know about it. Take the instance of a couple I know. She was being unfaithful to him, and she was posting things, including pictures, on her facebook account. Even though you can delete things that you have posted, you never know who has re-posted them or printed them for future usage.
ReplyDeleteAlthough facebook and other social media outlets are fun and useful, you also need to be careful with what you post.
I agree with Jessica, it is very tempting to google someone's name to find out information about a future employee. How about a future in-law!?
